Mumbai Indians (MI) – Rohit Sharma

The most successful IPL captain, Rohit Sharma has been retained by its parent franchise and will also fill its leadership roles for the upcoming season. Under Rohit, Bombay Indians won five IPL titles in eight years and did extremely well.
Rohit Sharma’s captaincy record is unrivaled in the IPL and he has started to look like a strong white ball contender for Indiais captaincy after Virat Kohli.
After taking over the role of leader from Ricky Ponting in 2013, Mumbai Indians were a little apprehensive about the role and had to hand him over to Rohit Sharma as he was the only performing player in the team. This decision to name Rohit, the leader of the team, paid off for the franchise.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – MS Dhoni

IPL’s four-time winning IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings has booked the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the upcoming IPL season for a whopping INR 12 Crores and is expected to lead his team again.
Dhoni had already outlined his plans for the upcoming season where he said he wanted to play his last match at Chepauk in Chennai.

Delhi Capitals (DC) – Rishabh Pants

Young drummer Stumper Rishabh Pant was named leader of Capitals of Delhi (CC) once again after his success last season. He replaced Shreyas Iyer in the team, who is apparently not retained by the franchise.
Pant was made the team leader when Iyer was injured and he has done extremely well in the captaincy. He took his team to the playoffs and was adept at using their resources.
The franchise has trusted the skills of the young Indian southpaw and are taking over the reins of the team for the IPL 2022.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) – Kane Williamson

the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will be SunRiser Hyderabad (SSR) skipper of the fifteenth season of the Indian Premier League. He was retained by the franchise for a whopping INR 14 Crores in the recent IPL 2022 player retainers.
The franchise earlier sacked David Warner from his position as captain and appointed Kane Williamson to lead the group. Warner was not given enough reasons for his withdrawal and so the franchise was in the midst of public anger over his behavior towards David Warner.
Williamson recently took his national team ICC T20 World Cup 2021 final although there are no strong players in the squad unlike India, Australia and England. New Zealand surprised everyone after reaching the final and claimed that a team must play like a team to advance in any tournament.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) – Mayank Agarwal

The Mohali-based IPL franchise is struggling to get into the Indian Premier League. From player selection to their strategies, the franchise has struggled a lot and is keen to make amends in the upcoming season.
Mayank Agarwal is the likely candidate to lead the team in the upcoming auction. KL Rahul has already parted ways with the franchise and wants to explore opportunities.
Agarwal was retained by the franchise for INR 12 Crores. He will serve the franchise for a few more years and is a good candidate for the captaincy.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Santosh Iyer is an Indian cricketer who plays for the national international cricket team, Mumbai in home cricket, and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
Two-time IPL winner, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has no cricketer at the moment. The franchise has retained the likes of Andre Russel, Varun ChakravarthyVenkatesh Iyer and Sunil Nostril during recent player retention and none of them appear to be the right player to be given the highest roles and responsibilities.
KKR will try to buy Australian opener, David Warner, at the IPL 2022 mega auction as he is the likely candidate to lead KKR. Warner has a fantastic record in the IPL both as a hitter and as a captain.
He led SRH to their only IPL title in 2016. He has also been his side’s top scorer for several years now.
Although there is fierce competition for the services of David Warner in the IPL 2022 mega auction, KKR will have to shell out a huge sum to get the right player from Warner.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – Glenn Maxwell

The biggest question for BCR moving forward in the next IPL season will be, Who will be their next captain after Virat Kohli?
Kohli, recently decided to step down as captain of the T20 to manage his excessive workload and since then the debate over RCB’s next skipper has begun. The franchise really wants someone who can carry forward the legacy of Virat Kohli and his endeavors. It will be interesting to see who steps into Virat’s shoes in the coming season.
Meanwhile, the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is considered the most likely and suitable player for the role. He joined RCB a year ago and he has done a brilliant job for the franchise in the middle order. He not only removed his underperforming tag in the IPL but also saved his team in a comfortable position many times in the IPL 2021.
