The opening of IPL 2022 will be held between CSK and KKR on March 26: Reports: Reports from close sources have claimed that the fifteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener will be held between the two finalists of the recently hosted IPL 2021. Developments confirm that defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face two-time winner Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the opening match of IPL 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
However, it should be noted that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to reveal the official schedule for the upcoming cash-rich tournament.
A few days ago, a few reports stated that the opening game of IPL 2022 will be held between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the former team’s Wankhede Stadium.
For more clarity on the subject, we will have to wait a few days, as BCCI will soon unveil the official schedule for IPL 2022.
It should be noted that the government of Maharashtra has assured to provide its full support to the Indian T20 tournament. The state government has guaranteed to give IPL teams a separate traffic lane for their back and forth movements to the ground and hotels, which will help them dodge Mumbai’s infamous rumbles.
All IPL 2022 matches will be held in Maharashtra only. The first four venues in the state will host the games. Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Ground, Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium will be used to host IPL matches.
Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Ground will host 20 IPL matches each while the other two aforementioned stadiums will host 15 IPL matches each.
In the interesting development, the BCCI will allow a small fraction of fans to enter the stadium and enjoy the live action of matches. About 25% of the fans will receive the tickets for the matches, according to reports.
